WHAT IS UNLOCKED CAPITAL?
Unlocked Capital is a fund dedicated to investing in the success of ventures founded by returning citizens. Through its incubator and fellowship, Unlocked Capital will provide the educational programming, mentorship and networking opportunities necessary to help returning citizens start, support and grow businesses.
MISSION
Unlocked Capital was founded to empower returning citizens for successful reentry through entrepreneurship. Our mission is to harness their natural talents and guide them toward the creation of profitable, legal and scalable business ventures.

Entrepreneurship is a viable solution for individuals with criminal histories when traditional careers paths are not an option. There is a huge economic benefit if between 1 and 7% of people leaving state or federal prison next year start their own businesses as 6,800 to 48,000 new businesses would be created in the United States every year which could ultimately create a boom to its economy.

It is our mission to catalyze the entrepreneurial potential of returning citizens to lead the American economy.

Connecting 100 formerly incarcerated with employment would produce $1.2 million in annual earnings and $55 million in total post-release lifetime earnings.

Employment of formerly incarcerated individuals contributing to 1,500 fewer recidivists would allow for closure of a prison facility for an annual cost savings of more than $26 million.

founders who are reentering society.

INCUBATOR
The Unlocked Incubator is a the three-month incubator that will be equipped with the resources, capital, education and mentorship to ensure the success of our entrepreneurs.
FELLOWSHIP
The Unlocked Fellowship is designed for those who do not desire the entrepreneurial route and provides an opportunity to work for existing businesses to provide a livable wage to support them through their reentry.
FOUNDER

LaTrice Davis
Managing Partner
Passionate about driving diversity in the fashion and entertainment industries, LaTrice launched her career in New York at two of the premier modeling agencies, Elite Models and IMG Models as an Assistant Model Manager. After years of working to the strengthen the professional profiles of some of the world's top fashion talent, LaTrice leveraged her skills into Operations, Business Development and Account Management functions for 1stdibs, AlleyNYC and The Lean Startup Machine, all startups in New York’s Silicon Alley.

As a champion for diversity and representation, her experiences in the fashion and startup sectors motivated her to be a catalyst in minimizing the lack of investment in underrepresented and minority entrepreneurs including returning citizens and veterans. Inspired by LaTrice’s own father who spent over 24 years in prison, Unlocked Capital was conceived after witnessing the barriers that returning citizens face while trying to reintegrate into society.
